REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - An Islamic informal organization, Islamic Defenders Front (FPI), promises not to do any sweeping during the fasting month of Ramadan as long as nightlife entertainment managers abide by the rules. Otherwise, the hardliner group will conduct sweeping to any nightlife entertainment operating during Ramadan.
"There are some regional regulations about Ramadan and nighlife entertainment managers must abide by the rules. FPI will not conduct any sweeping but we will keep an eye on them," Chairman of the Regional Leadership Council of FPI to Jakarta, Habib Salim Assegaf said on Saturday. He also warned if any officials involved in nepotism or collaboration with those managers.
Earlier, police warned of sweeping by mass organizations which conducted during the fasting month. Assegaf said that police must be focus on any violation rather than on FPI. Because there was no smoke without fire and no sweeping without any reason, Assegaf said.
Department of Culture and Tourism of Jakarta regulates that night spots, such as bars, discos, saunas and massage parlors should be closed during month of Ramadan. However, sometimes there were many nightclubs still violated the rules. As a measure of anticipation, Jakarta Provincial Government has prepared special officers who would act entertainment venues that broken the rules.
This particular officer is also tasked to anticipate the sweeping action of the organizations that often suspected anarchist.
