Muslims in Biak welcome Nuzulul Quran

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BIAK - Around two thousand Muslims from various mosques in Biak, Papua commemorated Nuzulul Quran 1434 Hijri at Great Mosque of Baiturrahman on Friday night. 

Nuzulul Quran is the first time Prophet Muhammad PBUH received God's revelation of Quran through angel Gabriel. The event occured on the 17 night of Ramadan, more than 14 centuries ago. 

"Revelation of Quran that is occured in month of Ramadan continues to be a guide of human life, especially for Muslims. Contents of Quran verses must be practiced in life in order to guide people in good deeds in the world and hereafter," Regent of Biak Numfor, Yusuf Melianus Maryen said on Friday.

Meryen praised participation of Muslims in Biak who can develop and create religious tolerance. An Islamic teacher of Jakarta, Ihya Ulumuddin also asked Muslims to continue to teach contents of Quran in community life. 

Quran as the Holy Book of Muslims contains teachings about faith, piety, social, interaction, family life and religious values of Muslims. "Quran is a guideline and guidance. So that Muslims can live safety in the world and hereafter," Ulumuddin said.
