REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JEDDAH - About 70 percent of Indonesian pilgrims are in health high risk group. Head of Health of Hajj Pilgrimage Organizing Committee (PPIH) in Saudi Arabia, Firdiansyah said members of this group were not 100 percent in healthy conditions.
High risk condition potentially make hajj pilgrims to be exposed to diseases. Firdiansyah explained there were two conditions of high risk categories. First, elderly pilgrims. The advanced age will be followed by human physiological changes and the elders are weaker than the youngers, even they do not suffer from any disease.
"This physiological decline leads elderly pilgrims to be classified as high risk than younger, especially when they are undergoing rituals of hajj. Its percentage is about 20 to 30 percent," Firdiansyah said recently at Haji Media Center, Ministry of Religious Affairs.
Second, hajj pilgrims suffering from disease since he or she is still in Indonesia are included in health high risk group. Yet, Firdiansyah believes that good management will keep health high risk group to control their condition and perform hajj ritual well.
