Jakarta governor to build mosque in Jakarta City Hall

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Jakarta Governor, Basuki Purnama Tjahaja, will build a mosque soon on the front yard of Jakarta City Hall, Medan Merdeka Selatan Street, Central Jakarta.

"We’ve got design for the mosque, I've decided. It's just that I want to evaluations whether the materials are expensive or not," said Ahok, nickname of Basuki, in Jakarta City Hall, on Wednesday, June 24.

According to Ahok, the budget for its construction has been provided. The funds were taken from the regional budgets (APBD).

"The tender should be on this year, and then it will be built also on this year. The design of mosque is great," said Basuki.

He said, later also there will be a dismantling of the right of City Hall as the construction of new mosques. Mosque at City Hall is planned to be built two floors.

As for now, the City Hall did not yet have a mosque that could accommodate the pilgrims in large quantities. A number of civil servants were usually performing Friday prayers using the ground floor of Block G City Hall Building.
