REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Spokesperson of Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia (HTI), Ismail Yusanto, rejected the suggestion given from Chairman of Indonesian Muslim Intellectuals Association (ICMI) Jimly Asshiddiqie.
He said rather than recommending HTI members to join with Crescent Star Party (PBB) of Yusril Ihza Mahendra, Jimly should urged the government to cancel the Regulation in Lieu of Law (Perppu) on mass organizations (Ormas) No.2 of 2017.
"We are not in the mood of joining any political party," Ismail said when contacted by Republika.co.id on Tuesday (August 1).
Ismail reiterated HTI rejected suggestions to join the political party with Islamic ideology.

"HTI members are not interested in joining political party and our focus is still on continuing political and legal resistance," he explained.

In their legal resistance, HTI has proposed judicial review to the Constitutional Court and filed a lawsuit to State Administrative Court (PTUN). HTI demanded the government to restore their legal status.
"Our legal entity was revoked in a sudden, without any explaination," Ismail explained.
Meanwhile, HTI also continued its political resistance with urging the government to revoke the Perppu. Moreover, many people disagree with the Regulation in Lieu of Law on mass organizations.
"It's not harming Islamic organization alone, any ordinary mass organization can be considered against Pancasila and then dissolved," Ismail said.
On Sunday, Jimly recommended HTI and Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) to re-managed themselves. He suggested the two mass organization to turn into Islamic Loving Front and defender of Pancasila.
"They could be the underbow of PPP, therefore the legacy of Masyumi is strong," he said.
