REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SURABAYA -- Chairperson of the East Java Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) KH Abdussomad Buchori visited the East Java Regional Police's Special Criminal Investigation Directorate (Ditreskrimsus) on Tuesday (Jan 15). Abdussomad wanted to support the completion of a case of online prostitution involving celebrities.
"I support the handling of prostitution case which is currently being handled by the East Java Regional Police. This moral-related case must be investigated thoroughly so it will not damage the morale of the nation," Abdussomad said.
Abdussomad also hoped that in this case not only the pimps that will be charged. He stated that the prostitutes and their customers could also be prosecuted.
Therefore, Abdussomad urged that the House of Representatives (DPR RI) to immediately discuss a law that could ensnare the prostitutes and customers of prostitution. He expected the law would bring a deterrent effect.
"It is for the interest of the community" Abdussomad said.
The online prostitution case involving female celebrities in Surabaya was revealed by Cyber Criminal Division of East Java Regional Police on Saturday (Jan 5). In that case, the police arrested five people consisting of FTV actrees with initials VA and adult magazine photo model with the initials US, one assistant, and two pimps.
There were around 45 artists and 100 models suspected of being involved in a network of online prostitution controlled by TN and ES as pimps. The celebrities had been released after being questioned. Their status were as witnesses.
