REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Police ensures there is no anthrax virus found in the two letters for France Embassy in Indonesia. “Gegana (explosive disposal unit –Ed) explains that after the inspection over the letters, the result is negative,” the Spokesman of Jakarta Police Department, Rikwanto said, on Wednesday.
Police sent the letters to be examined to Chemical, Biology, and Radioactive Units of Gegana in Depok and to Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB). The result from IPB has not yet released.
Earlier before on Monday night, two staffs of France Embassy to Indonesia, Fabien and Ghillain, received a package. The package contained a letter with ‘ANTHRAX’ written on it. One of staffs directly called police.
Fabien and Ghillain then sent to Sulianti Soeroso Hospital for Respiratory and Infectious Disease for further treatment and isolation. Both of them are fine and negative for Bacillus Anthracis virus. The doctors also allowed them to go home. “Today they work as usual,” Rikwanto said.
