REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SURABAYA - Ministry of Transportation is preparing five airports in Indonesia to open for 24 hours to anticipate the booming number of passengers. "In principle, we agree that airport in Indonesia open for 24 hours. We are preparing the plan," Minister EE Mangindaan said on Monday. Yet, he could not ensure the time table.

The five airports are Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Cengkareng, Juanda Airport in Surabaya, Polonia Airport in Medan, Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali, and Hasanuddin Airport in Makassar. "We still discuss the technical," he said. The plan is still hampered by human resources problems, such as service from the employee and the airline.

The Head of Transportation and Traffic Departemen of East Java, Wahid Wahyudi, said that Juanda Airport was ready, yet he still faced some problem on the airlines. "The problem is in the airline," he said. Wahyudi admitted that Juanda Airport was overload and overcapacity.
