REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Newly elected Governor of Jakarta Joko Widodo prepares 500 new buses to renew the old buses in the capital city. As strolling around Jakarta, Joko Widodo or known as Jokowi visited some bus stations and he found some problems on some buses.
"This is capital city and needs a total restoration," the Deputy Governor, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama said.
Jokowi promises to restore the improper buses by giving subsidy to the operator of the bus. He said that he had discussed the matter with the Head of Transportation Department in Jakarta.
The Chairman of Kopaja, Nanang Sukarna, admitted that the condition of the bus was worrying. He noted that there were 1,479 units of Kopaja with 70 percent of them were above 15 years.
"We have restored several buses, but we need help from Government of Jakarta," he said.
