REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono submitted the candidates for the governor of Bank Indonesia (BI) on Friday, in line with the deadline from the House of Representatives, Presidential Staff on Economy and Development, Firmanzah, said. Yet, he refused to explain the detail.
The current Governor of Bank Indonesia, Darmin Nasution, will end his office term on May 22, 2013. Based on laws, President must submit at most three names for the candidates to the House at least three months in advance.
The House will also decide the person to replace Budi Mulya as the deputy governor of BI. According to Deputy Commission XI at the House, Harry Azhar Azis, the candidates are Perry Wardjiyo and Hendar.
Based on BI Laws Article 37 Section 1, the Board of BI Governor must be consist of a governor, a senior deputy governor and at least four deputy governors. Currently BI has a governor and three deputy governors.
