REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Minister of Investment and Underwriting/Head of BKPM Rosan Perkasa Roeslani's optimism, the Vietnamese automotive company VinFast is seriously about to investing in building a factory in Indonesia. Rosan, met at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Monday (10/3/2025), said Indonesia is one of two countries targeted by VinFast for its car manufacturing, whose production is managed to export markets.
“VinFast has already met us, also for plans to build its factory in Indonesia, and they do want to. So, Indonesia is one of the two countries they are manifesting outside Vietnam, and they are very serious,” Rosan said answering journalist's question.
Therefore, Rosan continued, the Ministry of Investment is ready to accompany VinFast to realize its investment plan.
“We worked with them to provide alternatives as well as locations so that they could realize the investment they presented and they are very, very serious,” Rosan said.
The Minister of Investment, who is also CEO of Danantara, also believes that VinFast's investment will be realized soon enought. Rosan has not yet been able to talk much about the details of its investments, including the locations Indonesia offers for VinFast.
“The details, I will explain (later). But, i would say they are very serious about investing in Indonesia,” the Minister of Investment said.
Rosan, along with a number of ministers of the Kabinet Merah Putih, accompanied President Prabowo Subianto on Monday evening hosted Vietnam's state guests, namely Communist Party of Vietnam Secretary General To Lam and Vietnamese delegation, to dine at the Merdeka Palace.
The welcoming ceremony for To Lam took place in the afternoon, then followed by a four-eyes meeting between To Lam and Prabowo. Later, the two chaired a bilateral meeting between Indonesian and Vietnamese delegations.
After the meeting, President Prabowo and General Secretary To Lam delivered a joint statement, one of the points of which the two countries agreed to enhance the partnership into comprehensive cooperation. The two also agreed to support each other's vision of becoming a developed country by 2045, when the two countries are exactly 100 years old.
The Indonesian delegation present at the meeting included Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Coordinating Minister of Food Zulkifli Hasan, Minister of Defense Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati, Foreign Minister Sugiono, Minister of ESDM Bahlil Lahadalia, Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Prof. Brian Yuliarto, Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman, Minister of Agriculture Secretary of State Prasetyo Hadi, Minister of Marine and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, Minister of Investment and Irrigation/Head of BKPM Rosan P. Roeslani, and Teddy's Cabinet Secretary Indra Wijaya.
