REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Operation Director of Garuda Indonesia, Novianto Herupratomo said in the next two years or 2015, Garuda would start to use biofuel one percent of total fuel used by its planes.

"For example, if Garuda spent one billion liters of avtur for aviation fuel, then 10 million liters of it is biofuel. This system uses separate wings, the left wing will use avtur, while the right wing will use biofuel," Heruprotomo said on recently.

Garuda will use biofuel to support renewable energy and environmentally friendly. Garuda Indonesia is recognized for its efforts to preserve environment. The state-owned company receives the Green Awards 2013 in three categories, namely Pioneer of Forest Conservation, Pioneers of Pollution Prevention and Earth Conservation Leader.
