REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Indonesia has been cleared from US's accusation of shrimp export subsidies to its fishermen or farmers. Minister of Marine Affairs And Fisheries, Sharif Cicip Sutardjo said he had coordinated with Ministry of Trade, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and business associations on this problem.

"I asked the US to recheck the issue which is concerning the life of lots people of Indonesia,"  said on Saturday.

Earlier, Coalition of Gulf Shrimp Industries(COGSI) filled a petition to US government on December 28, 2012. They asked their government to impose countervailing duties (CVD) over imported frozen warmwater shrimp from seven countries, namely Ecuador, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, China, Thailand and Vietnam. These organizations accused those countries had subsidized their shrimp industry, a practice considered illegal in the US. Later, Indonesia was cleared from the accusation.
