Indonesia and Netherlands to build a shipping management company

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - State owned port operator, PT Indonesia Port Corporation (IPC) III through its subsidiary, PT Pelindo Marine Service (PMS) cooperates with Van Oord Dredging and Marine Contractor BV based in Rotterdam, Netherlands, to form a joint company, PT Alur Pelayaran Barat Surabaya (APBS). 

According to First Secretary of Indonesian Embassy in London, Danang Waskito, the joint company would focus on shipping management, particularly in Tanjung Perak port, Surabaya, East Java. The agreement was signed on January  17, 2014, witnessed by Indonesian Ambassador to Netherland Kingdom, Retno LP Marsudi, as well as Secretary General of Netherland's Ministry of Infrastructure and Environment, Siebe Riedstra.

President Director of IPC III, Djarwo Surjanto said that APBS would play an important role in supporting Tanjung Perak port as a gateway for economy of East Java and Eastern Indonesia. It was expected to boost economic growth in East Java up to seven to eight percent this year. 

Van Oord has involved in construction project of Tanjung Perak port in 1911-1925.
