REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - A fifth grade elementary student, Theodore Paulina Walukow, may represent Indonesia at the Student Chess Olympiad in Brazil on November 25.

"I can participate in the competition (in Brazil) if I win the National Student Chess Olympiad (O2SN)," she said.

To achieve her goal, Walukow revealed that she trained two to three hours a day but she never comprised with her schoolwork.

"Studies are my main priority. Although I have a talent in chess, my primary target is still to do well in school. I wish to become a physician one day," she noted.

Walukow further stated that a coach was helping her prepare for the event and that she had played against several national champions to improve her vision and strategy for the international event.

"My weaknesses show when the game lasts for too long. Chess requires very high concentration. The game is one of thinking and strategy analysis," she remarked.
