REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo has bought a number of birds and squirrels to be released in the gardens of Bogor and Jakarta Palaces.
"The number of birds there are not enough," President Jokowi said when visiting Pramuka Bird Market in East Jakarta, Saturday, February 28.
The president bought 300 Jalak or starlings (Leucopsar rothschildi), 100 Cucakrawa or straw-headed bulbul birds (Pycnonotus zeylanicus), and 50 Kutilang or Sooty-headed Bulbul birds (Pycnonotus aurigaster).
The former Jakarta governor also bought 50 turtle doves (Columbiformes) and some small birds.
"(They) will be released in Bogor and Jakarta Palaces," Jokowi said.
He also purchased a number of squirrels for the two palaces' gardens.
The Bogor Palace has a huge garden that accommodates hundreds of deers.
