REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The development program on the construction of power generators with a total capacity of 35,000 megawatts in Indonesia is progressing as scheduled, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Sofyan Djalil said.

"Executive Director (of the state-owned power company) Sofyan Basir reported that the construction (of the power plants) is on track," Djalil stated here on Tuesday.

Vice President Jusuf Kalla held a meeting to discuss the program on the development of electricity, at the Vice Presidential Office in Jakarta. According to the minister, the government faces several problems, such as the location of Halimun in West Java province.

He expressed hope that the issue will be resolved posthaste. Djalil further noted that the problem of electricity grids was also being overcome according to plan.

Moreover, he pointed out that the meeting was held particularly to discuss the progress of the program to develop power plants with a combined capacity of 35,000 megawatts.

Several other ministers attended the meeting, including Coordinator Minister for Maritime Affairs Indroyono Soesilo, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Sudirman Said, Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning Ferry Mursyidan Baldan, and Minister of Forestry and Environment Siti Nurbaya.

In addition, Chief of Presidential Staff Luhut Binsar Panjaitan and the executive director of the state-owned power company, Sofyan Basir, were also present at the meeting.
