REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SINGAPORE - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) and his entourage arrived in Singapore on Friday at 3.45 pm local time, to attend the annual Shangri-La Dialogue or Asia Security Summit. SBY will be a keynote speaker at the dialogue.
He is also scheduled to meet Singapore`s new president, Tony Tan Keng Yam, and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. The head of state visited Singapore after attending the World Economic Forum on East Asia (WEFEA) in Bangkok on Thursday.
SBY told the forum that Indonesia was serious about developing its domestic connectivity. "Why are we serious about building domestic connectivity? This is particularly because, thank God, the Indonesian economy continues to grow at above six percent despite the global crisis," the President said before a panel of WEFEA leaders.
SBY delivered his keynote address at the opening of the forum, along with Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, and Lao Prime Minister Thongsing Tammavong, while WEF founder Klaus Schwab was the moderator. The President, First Lady Ani Yudhoyono, and his entourage will return from Singapore to Jakarta on Sunday (June 3).
