REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PARIAMAN - A total of 694 elementary school students of Pariaman, West Sumatra along coastal areas will be trained in disaster drill. The simulation is conducted by Pariaman Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD).
"The simulation of disaster drill is conducted from June 14-21, 2013," Head of BPBP in Pariaman, Dirmayanto on Sunday.
The simulation aims to prepare students in Pariaman to be able to move quickly when disaster strikes. Pariaman is a region in West Sumatra vulnerable to the tsunami threat. Students and teachers are equipped with basic knowledge about the disaster and how to evacuate.
During the simulation, alarm sounds are sigsn of an earthquake or tsunami and the students and teachers must be follow the evacuation route. Some schools participating in this simulation are Elementary School of Taluk Pariaman, Marunggi, Karan Aur, Pauh Barat, Manggung and Padang Biriak Biriak.
