REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Indonesian Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) made a sudden visit to Bank Indonesia (BI) to search some documents related to Century Bank on Tuesday. Director of Department of Communication at BI, Peter Jacobs said BI did not mind to cooperate desite the sudden inspection.
"We didn't receive any notice before the visit," Jacobs said on Tuesday.
The searching was conducted in some related departments at BI, such as banking supervision, monetary management, banking research and regulation, and legal department. KPK spurs investigation oF Bank Indonesia liquidity support (BLBI).
The state issued recapitalization bonds of 655 trillion IDR to cover the BLBI funds during the financial crisis on 1996-1998. Later, a committee at the House of Representative found the abuse of power on BLBI fund worth 6.7 trillion IDR. The fund was then used for bail out of Century Bank case.
