Govt to turn 27 slum villages in Jakarta into row house villages

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Jakarta Housing Department will build 27 slum villages and turn it into row houses villages, so called Kampung Deret. The program will be implemented in five Jakarta regions: Central Jakarta, North Jakarta, West Jakarta, East Jakarta and South Jakarta.

"Before we build row houses village, government has set specific requirements that must be met by society. One of them, the society must owned their land and the design must also comply to the requirement," Head of Jakarta Housing Department, Yonathan Pasodung said on Saturday.

Currently, government still conducts survey on residents whose houses will be renovated. Data collected from the fields will become the base for governor of Jakarta to issue decree. 

A row house must have a maximum of 36 metres of land area and maximum funding for one house is 54 million IDR. This program also covers environmental management, such as roads and waterways.
