REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Crescent and Star Party (PBB) Lawmaking Body Chairman Yusril Ihza Mahendra said he agreed to the idea of reimposing the state policy guidelines (GBHN) for the head of state to carry out state administration.
"I agree on the idea of reinstating the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR)'s right to adopt the GBHN because it will ease the president in carrying out state administration," Yusril said during a discussion on a presidential candidate debate here over the weekend.
He said that with the presence of GBHN, the president did not need to make a new program because he or she would only be required to carry out programs that had been arranged by the MPR.
"With the presence of GBHN, the president will have easy jobs," he said.
Yusril said with the re-introduction of the GBHN, a presidential candidate could say he or she had no programs if asked about his or her programs.
"If as a presidential candidate I am asked about my programs, I will say that I have none. The program of a president is to carry out the GBHN. So, I will focus on it," he said.
He said that in this case the president had to carry out the GBHN and if he or she failed to carry it out, the people can impeach him or her.
"The task of a president in the five-year period is to realize the programs contained in the GBHN. But now, the GBHN is no longer adopted," Yusril added.
