REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PAPUA -- One of the suspected separatist was hit in the encounter and died on the way to a local hospital, Tito Karnavian Chief of Papua Police said, adding, two of the other four were also injured but had been treated in a Jayapura hospital.
The military and police were on joint patrol, but on the way to Kota Mulia, the security force encountered the group of armed men, who started shooting, Tito said.
The security force retaliated and hit three of them and one died before being treated at a local hospital, he added.
The security force seized 29 bullets from the separatist suspects.
Separatists are still a threat to security in Papua.
