REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Constitutional Court (MK) granted the request of Constitutional Lawyers Forum about a judicial review on Article 159 Paragraph 1 of Law No. 42/2008 on Presidential Election. Constitutional Court Chief Justice, Hamdan Zoelva said that the next presidential election would be held in one round based on the quantity of votes.

"We heard, decided and granted the request," Zoelva said in an open court in Jakarta on Thursday as reported by C75.

According to him, the Judicial Review does not contradict to 1945 Constitution. The old system did not apply to the next general election, which would only be followed by two pairs of president and vice presidential candidates, Prabowo Subianto-Hatta Rajasa and Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo-Jusuf Kalla.

The representative of Constitutional Lawyers Forum, Andi Muhammad Asrun said that the two rounds of presidential election would spend state budget and made a political instability.
