REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Deputy Governor of Jakarta, Basuki 'Ahok' Tjahaja Purnama said that he was still interested to come as regional head candidate in local election. He keen to move forward as independent candidate without supports from political party.
"If people want me, I can do it again," Ahok said on Thursday.
Ahok said that his nomination as a party's candidate or independent candidate depended on his current performance. According to Gerindra party cadre, if people ask him to become a leader, then people automatically will support him in the local election.
Ahok wanted to prove whether the regional head without political party could work together with parliament or not. If he can realize his programs, then he is very possible to run as independent candidate.
"So, let see in next three years. If it works, then my supporters will sure that I can go on without political party," Ahok added.
Ahok refused if local election returned into parliament. He do not mind if he should quit his position and went out from political challenge if the direct election is abolished.
