President visits PBNU office

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Joko (Jokowi) Widodo visited the office of Nahdlatul Ulama Central Executive Board (PBNU) here on Wednesday to gather inputs related to the nation's problems, especially social issues that plague Indonesia.

"We come to the PBNU office to solicit inputs from numerous Muslim scholars," President Jokowi said after a meeting with officials from different ranks of the PBNU.

The head of state was accompanied by Minister/State Secretary Pratikno and Cabinet Secretary Andi Wijayanto during his visit to the PBNU office.

At the PBNU office, the president met PBNU General Chairman KH Said Aqil Siroj, Deputy Chairman As'ad Said Ali, Secretary General Marsudi Syuhud and general treasurers Bina Suhendra, Rais Syuriyah, KH Masdar Farid Mas'udi, and Katib Syuriyah Mujib Qulyubi.

In the meantime, Cabinet Secretary Andi Wijayanto noted that the president was seeking PBNU's viewpoint on death penalty, radicalism, and extremism.
