REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, KUPANG -- Floods inundated border between Indonesia and Timor Leste as the water from Benanain River in Malaka, Nusa Tenggara Timur, overflows. Thousands of houses were flooded.
"Houses in two villages located near the river are inundated," a citizen from Sikun Vilage, Eduardus Klau, said on Sunday, December 4.
Sikun and Oan Mane villages are the two affected areas. The water in Benanain River has been overflowed for almost a week. It surpassed the 3-meter dyke built by government. The floods carried mud, branches and rocks to people's homes.
"We are astonished by the sudden flood. We never have rain," he said.
