REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Foreign Affairs Minister Retno L.P. Marsudi has urged Malaysian palm oil plantation companies to guaranty the safety, welfare, and basic rights of Indonesian migrant workers (TKI), according to a press statement received here Monday.
The ministry officials visited Malaysia to meet and talk to Indonesian migrant workers in a number of Malaysian palm oil plantation companies.
The ministry has asked palm oil plantation companies to solve every problem faced by migrant workers employed by them and has offered help to resolve them.
Retno has reaffirmed the government's commitment to help solve problems faced by Indonesians, including migrant workers, abroad.
According to her, the issue of migrant workers is a priority for her ministry that is committed to the cause.
"One of the concrete efforts taken by the government is providing maximal protection to workers through hotline services so that they can easily reach the government representatives any time," Retno added.
