REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- House Speaker Setya Novanto stated that Commission II will seek inputs from relevant agencies regarding election disputes which become one point for the revision of the regional head election law.
"The Chairman of Commission II will consult the Supreme Court about election disputes," Setya Novanto said here on Thursday.
He assessed that the Supreme Court will concern itself with election disputes.
According to him, consultation must be carried out as early as possible for harmonization.
"A consultation with the Supreme Court is required to obtain clarity," he emphasized.
Setya also appreciated President Joko Widodo for signing the law without any delay.
Parliament has received the law and it has been forwarded to the Commission for revision.
"We have entrusted Commission II with revising the law," he noted.
He is hoping that the law will be revised during the second half of the 2014-15 House sitting session, which will be primarily handling local elections and their implementation.
Commission II has so far made seven points in its revision of the election law. One of these is related to election disputes as the Constitutional Court (MK) has issued a fatwa that the Court will not hear election disputes.
