REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Commission for Indonesian Child Protection (KPAI) met Vice President Jusuf Kalla on Tuesday to discuss the settlement of child protection cases.

"We discussed several issues including ways to ensure the state's support to deal with such cases and to prevent their recurrence," KPAI Chairman Asrorun Ni'am Sholeh stated here on Tuesday.

At the meeting, the vice president underscored the importance of public participation in the settlement of child protection cases, which are not solely the government's responsibility.

"The KPAI also conveyed data regarding the complaints lodged through it, most of which are related to child care. Therefore, progressive steps need to be taken," he emphasized.

Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Yohana Yembise was also present during the meeting.

Yembise affirmed that she had attended the meeting, as it was held to discuss issues related to child protection.

"At the meeting, the KPAI briefed the vice president on its functions and tasks, the internal issues of the organization, and ways to address cases," he noted.

Yembesi revealed that her ministry will soon hold a coordination meeting with the KPAI and the National Commission for Child Protection (Komnas PA) to review the activities and functions carried out in their respective areas.
