REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA –- The 33rd congress of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) in Jombang, East Java is urged to produce NU leader like Prophet Muhammad in term of its characteristics.
“NU is not an NGO or political party that can pragmatically move for certain interest. NU leader should be influential and has political thought, but not easy to be politicized by certain political parties,” young NU intellectual, Arif Taufiq NA said, Monday (3/8).
In addition, NU leader also must possess the four characteristic that exist in the Prophet Muhammad, namely fathanah (smart), amanah, shidiq (reliable), and the ability to influence or tabligh.
Those characteristics, he said, can be reflected from how the leader organized the forum and the organization structure to the NU branch level.
“But the way he organizes isn’t with money politics, but with the charisma and public trust. In this case, the leader should be able to embrace all branches and regions, not by forcing [the creation] of Ahwa (ahlul halli wal aqdi),” he added.
