REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, TIMIKA -- Two ministers from Kabinet Kerja of President Joko Widodo, namely the Coordinating Minister of Maritime, Indroyono Susilo, and Tourism Minister, Arief Yahya, are invited to attend the Indonesian flag hoisting ceremony in order to celebrate the Indonesia 70th Independence Day in Puncak Cartensz, Papua.
A tourism activist from Puncak Cartensz, Maximus Tipagau, said that the ceremony at Puncak Cartensz will be held on 11th August 2015.
The venue is located in Zebra Wall in 4,300 meters above sea level. While Puncak Cartensz itself is about 4,800 meters above sea level and is becoming one of the world's seven highest peaks.
"We hope that the flag-hoisting ceremony at Puncak Cartensz this year can be attended by both ministers. We also invite certain officials such as the Chief of Basarnas, Special Staff of President's affairs in Papua Lenius Kogoya, Papua Governor, Mimika’s leader, Intan Jaya’s leader and others, "said Maximus.
Maximus who is also a director of Adventure Cartensz, said that the presence of the two ministers in the flag hoisting ceremony at Puncak Cartensz this year is great in order to promote Indonesian tourism.
"We keep wishing that international climbing in PON 2020 can be held in Puncak Cartenz,” he added.
If there are many tourists visit Puncak Cartensz, then it will automatically create jobs and business opportunities for the citizens who live in it. Besides that, tourists visit will also give contribution to increase country income.
"If a few years ago President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has opened Sail Raja Ampat, we also hope President Joko Widodo will give much attention to the development of tourism in Puncak Cartensz. Puncak Cartenz has a exotic view with eternal snow," said Maximus.
