REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- A delegation of the U.S. Congress met President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) expressing appreciation of the government policy cutting fuel subsidy to be used to finance more productive sector.
The delegation also lauded the government commitment to battling corruption, Foreign Minister Retno L.P. Marsudi said after the meeting here on Saturday.
The delegation included Chairman of The United States House Democracy Partnership Vern Buchanan, Congressman David Price, Congressman Adrian Smith, Congresswoman Susan Davis, Congresswoman Dina Titus,and Congressman Jim McDermott , and the president was accompanied by Minister Retno, Coordinating Minister for Law, Security and Political Affairs Luhut Binsar Panjaitan, and Coordinating Minister for Economy Darmin Nasution.
Last Thursday, President Jokowi already received visit by a U.S. delegation of senators.
"Most of the senators made their first visit to the country . The visit gave them the real picture of Indonesia," Retno said.
She said the president gave details of the government policy to the delegates of Republican senators that included Senator John Coryn from Texas, Senator Pat Roberts from Kansas, Senator David Perdue from Georgia, Senator Thom Tillis from North Carolina and congressman Ted Poe from Texas.
