REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo has instructed the Minister for State Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform, Yuddy Chrisnandi, to reduce the number of non-structural institutions, currently pegged at more than 100.
"Non-structural institutions, which were set up based on presidential regulations and decrees can be maintained, dissolved or revitalized," Chrisnandi said on Tuesday.
However, he added that he would not take steps without conducting some prior research and had as such inspected several non-structural institutions over the past few days.
"It is not ethical to make a decision without conducting research in the field. So we have inspected the offices of the non-structural institutions," he said.
During the inspection, he had found several non-structural institutions, which had no office.
"Some of them have no office, while others could not be found, even though they have been set up under a presidential regulation," he stated.
On Tuesday, Chrisnandi inspected the Offices of the Special Economic Region (KEK) and the Committee for the Accelerated Procurement of Priority Infrastructures, the Steering Committee for the Development of Special Economic Zones in the islands of Batam, Bintan and Karimun at the State Enterprises Ministry.
He also visited the office of the coordinating team for a peacekeeping mission (TKMP3) at the Foreign Ministry, where he was met by the Director General of Multilateral Affairs, Hasan Kleib.
