REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, YOGYAKARTA -- Tanjung Adikarto Port project in Yogyakarta will be launched in February 2016. This was confirmed after the dredging of pool in Tanjung Adikarto Port in Kulonprogro, December 2015, and also socialization to several ports outside Yogyakarta, such as Pacitan, Cilacap, and others.
"It is expected that the fishermen of Pacitan, Cilacap and others can be docked at the Tanjung Adikarto Port," said Head of Fisheries Department of Yogyakarta to Republika.co.id, Suwarman, Sunday (6/9).
He revealed that in fact, large size ship of 150 gross tons can be docked at Tanjung Adikarto Port. However, for the early stages, after the soft launch, there will be small ships under 60 gross tons, ie 10 to 30 gross tons, that will be docked at the Port.
With so many fishermen who will dock at at Tanjung Adikarto Port, then Kulon Progo economy will grow, because it can help increasing fish production. To improve the quality of local fisherman, the government of Yogyakarta will continue to conduct training for 90 fishermen and grant certification to 90 professional fishermen in the field of shipmaster, navigation and safety field.
