REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Joko Widodo promised that a new football tournament will be held after the President's Cup. Jokowi targeted, the tournament, namely TNI Commander Cup, has been able start in November 2015.

"I promise in the middle of November, there will be a new tournament. We have to get ready for it," said the President, at the State Palace on Monday (19/10) ,

The new tournament, Jokowi continued, has bigger number of prize compared with the President's Cup tournament. In addition, each club will also receive greater funding.

Through the tournament held by the government since PSSI was frozen, Jokowi wanted to evoke optimism in society that Indonesian football can rise from adversity.

"I just want to give support that our football still have a good future," Jokowi added.

Separately, Minister of Youth and Sports, Imam Nahrawi, said TNI Commander Cup will be followed by football clubs from ISL and Premier Division. He also hoped, Persipura and new Persibaya, which previously could not participate in the President's Cup, can joint the TNI Commander Cup.

Nevertheless, Imam said there was still no operator to run the competition.

"It's only a few days ahead, I hope in 24th October, there is a fixed operator," Imam said.

He made sure, although PSSI was still frozen, Indonesian football will still enliven with various tournaments. After TNI Commander Cup, Imam added, there will be Indonesia Champion Tournament.
