REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, ANTALYA -- President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) will raise the need to reform global financial architecture at the G20 Leaders' Summit held in Turkey on Sunday and Monday.

"The President will also raise the need to differentiate international currencies, and the need to consider the impact of the monetary policy on the rest of the world," Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi said in a press conference here on Saturday night.

Finance Minister Bambang Brodjonegoro said Friday the Indonesian government will underscore the importance of infrastructure financing to support global economic growth at the G20 Leaders' Summit.

"Indonesia will continue encouraging the emergence or growth of infrastructure financing and pushing all sides to agree to the creation of quality economic growth through infrastructure development," the minister said.

The issue of infrastructure financing is in line with the outcome of the previous G20 forum, which has set the target of increasing global economic growth by 2 percent in each of the next five years, he said.

"The global growth this year only stands at 3.1 percent. This is somewhat difficult, as the global economy is projected to grow by only 3.6 percent next year. This is a formidable task, yet this has become the commitment of the G20. Growth can overcome social problems such as unemployment, poverty and disparity," he said.

The development of infrastructure may serve as the main solution to achieving the target of global economic growth in the next five years at 4-5 percent. Furthermore, many multilateral agencies have currently extended loans to finance infrastructure projects, he said.

Financing investment in facilities and infrastructures has drawn special attention from the Indonesian government, which currently co-chairs the Investment and Infrastructure Working Group in the G20, along with Germany and Mexico.
