REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MAKASSAR -- Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI) proposed four sports, namely bridge, jet skiing, chess, and paragliding to be competed in 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta and Palembang, Secretary General of KOI Dodi Iswandi said, Wednesday (30/12).
"We continue to propose for at least one of the four sports to be played in 2018 Asian Games. We expect Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) can make it happen," he stated, during an event of Road to Asian Games.
Regarding the reasons to include the four sports, according to him, was based on Indonesian opportunity to win gold medals. It was because Indonesia has proven its potential in various Asian championship.
In bridge, Indonesia was potentially won six medals, then four medal in jet skiing, five golds in chess, and four medal in paragliding. KOI also has communicated it with a number of participating countries. KOI was optimistic that one sports proposed could get a recommendation to be competed in the biggest sporting event in Asia.
"We are approaching some countries to meet requirements of the sports to be played in Asian Games. We also believe Indonesia can get maximum achievements if one of these sports is competed," he added.
