REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, KARANGANYAR -- President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) distributed Lebaran (Eid) packages containing basic necessities to the poor in Gondangrejo Village, Karanganyar District, in Central Java on Thursday.
Dressed in a white shirt and black trousers, President Jokowi arrived at the venue to distribute food packages at 10:25 a.m. local time in the company of Karanganyar District Head Juliyatmono.
After making a brief stopover at the residence of one of his uncles, the president headed to the Krangan village hall to distribute Lebaran packages and to hold a courtesy gathering with the local community.
On the way to the village hall, President Jokowi used the opportunity to shake hands with numerous bystanders.
President Jokowi also handed out notebooks to children and some money to the elderly.
Some residents clicked pictures of the president using their mobile phone cameras.
The president distributed two thousand food packages containing rice, sugar, cooking oil, and tea to the people of seven hamlets in Kragan Village.
The president and First Lady Iriana Jokowi Widodo arrived in Solo, Central Java, on Wednesday afternoon, after celebrating Eid al-Fitr, or Lebaran, with the people of Padang City in West Sumatra.
