REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Former President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) asked President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to explain the tapping aimed at him. Moreover, if the tapping was not conducted by Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok), but the state institution such as the National Police (Polri) or State Intelligence Agency (BIN). "The state bears the responsibility if Polri or BIN did it," he said.
In order to be clear, SBY beg Jokowi to explain source of the interception and the party who did it. He asserted the tapping should not be done arbitrarily. It must be done under the rules of applicable law. "If I was tapped so easily, what about other politicians who might have shared the same fate as me," SBY asked retoric.

Former President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono who is also the father of candidate number 1 in the Jakarta gubernatorial elections held a press conference at Wisma Proklamasi, Jakarta, on Wednesday. He asked President Joko Widodo explain about the alleged interception of a phone call between him and KH Ma'ruf Amin/ (Republika/Raisan Al Fairisi).
SBY said the country was like a jungle where the strong win. Hence, he asked the police, general attorney and the court to enforce the law. "Through this rostrum, I beg for the transcript, which Ahok's lawyer claimed to have, to assure there were no parts that was added or wiped," he said.

SBY admitted that he did have a phone conversation with Kiai Ma'ruf. Their conversation has nothing to do with Kiai Ma'ruf duty as Chairman of Indonesian Council of Ulama (MUI). "I did not call Pak Ma'ruf directly and otherwise. The staff was connecting us through his phone," he said at the Wisma Proklamasi, Menteng, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday.

Beside that, SBY also explained about the message conveyed by his son, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, to Kiai Ma'ruf. He wished to have a discussion with Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) leaders. "I told him to convey my wish to discuss management of islam in the world," he said.
