REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The presence of the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Luhut Binsar Panjaitan, the Jakarta Police Chief Inspector General of Police Commander M Iriawan, and the Jayakarta Commander Teddy Laksmana to the house of the Chairman of Indonesian Council of Ulama (MUI) KH Ma'ruf Amin that was protested by Nahdliyin and Muslims has gained criticism.

The legal team of the National Movement to Safeguard the Indonesian Council of Ulama's Fatwa (GNPF MUI), Kapitra Ampera, said the visit to Kiai Ma'ruf house on Wednesday night was allegedly an effort to muted the noise made by Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) who was considered insulting Kiai Ma'ruf.

Kapitra argued that the presence of three state officials clearly showed a form of state support to Ahok. "The presence of the state representatives to the house of Kiai Maruf was a form of state support to Ahok’s case. It was difficult to deny," he said in a public discussion event themed 'Do Ahok will Jailed', on Thursday.

He said although the president repeatedly stressed his neutral position, but it was hard to deny the public opinion due to the presence of the three officials to Kiai Ma'ruf’s house. Not to mention, the allegation of conversation between KH Ma'ruf Amin with the Chairman of Democrat Party Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), that Kapitra saw as a clear indication of wiretapping.

"How come a legal team able to tap it, unless the attribute of the state, whether it was the intelligence or the police, was part of these intercepts," he said.

Kapitra explicitly asked the public, especially Muslims, to criticize this. He said this would damage the legal system and the life of the nation.
