REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Commissioner of General Election Commission (KPU) Pramono Ubaid Tanthowi said 25 areas had signed the regional grants agreement (NPHD) for simultaneous regional election 2018. There were 14 other provinces had not signed it until June 30.

NPHD signing was the basic of budget certainty for simultaneous regional election 2018. Pramono said the 25 areas consisted of three provinces and 22 regents/cities.

“The three provinces were West Java, Bali and South East Sulawesi,” he said to Republika.co.id on Sunday (July 2).  

Seventeen provinces in Indonesia to hold simultaneous regional elections in 2018. The 14 provinces that had not signed the NPHD were North Sumatra, Riau, South Sumatra, Lampung, Central Java, East Java, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, West Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, South Sulawesi, Maluku, Papua and North Maluku.

Pramono said, as mentioned in the circular leter No. 273 on June 19 about the funding of simultaneous regional election 2018, interior ministry provided the limit for 171 regional governments as the election organizers to sign the NPHD up to the end of July.

“KPU received the letter and expected the 146 other regional governments to reach the agreement to the local KPU. This is important so the local KPU might prepare the election,” he said.

He added, to speed up the signing process for 146 areas, Central KPU communicated to the local KPU. It encouraged the KPU in provincial and regional level to strengthen communication to the local government.

Secondly, Central KPU held communication with Interior Ministry to firmly monitor the regents that had not signed the budget for KPU. 

“All the areas were expected to signed the NPHD at the end of this month,” said Pramono.
