REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The House Special Committee of inquiry rights on the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has requested for additional time to work. Vice Chairman of the Special Committee, Masinton Pasaribu, said there are some datas that need to be further investigated by committee.

"Some data is necessary for us, we need to confirm," Masinton added before a Hearing Meeting with Central Forensic Laboratory Police Headquarters at Nusantara Building on Thursday.

In addition, the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) politician explained, there are also some findings that require an audit to BPK. To find out the results of BPK audit, he added, it would take time.

However, Masinton denied the Special Committee of Inquiry Rights' work time will certainly be extended. "If it needs to be extended, just do it. But it is just an option, not yet decided," he explained.

Masinton also explained that the committee will explore the confiscated assets of KPK. Some assets saved in some areas, he added, will also be visited by the committee for examination.

The inquiry motion came after the KPK rejected an earlier request by the Law Commission of the DPR to hand over a recorded copy of the dossiers of lawmaker Miryam S. Haryani, who has been implicated in a Rp5.9 trillion scandal over the project involving the procurement of electronic identity cards.

Based on dossiers read by the KPK prosecutor in a court session earlier, more than 50 lawmakers, government officials, and businessmen, were allegedly implicated in the scandal.
