REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MANADO -- State-owned enterprise PT Angkasa Pura I plans to undertake the development of terminal infrastructure at the Sam Ratulangi Airport in 2018. The company provides air traffic services and operates business airports in Indonesia, with focus on regional services for central Indonesia and the eastern Indonesian region.
General Manager of PT Angkasa Pura I of Sam Ratulangi Airport Minggus Gandeguai noted in Manado City, North Sulawesi Province, on Monday that the terminal will be constructed over an area of 30 thousand square meters at the airport.
He said that the Jakarta headquarters is still in the process of evaluating the infrastructure development plan, and it is expected to soon start the construction in order to increase domestic and foreign tourist arrivals.
The development will be carried out from the current international terminal to the cargo terminal, thus the airport area will become more extensive.
Currently, an auction is being held at the headquarters for the construction.
"There will be supporting facilities at the airport, so that tourists will feel more comfortable," he noted.
Moreover, Manado will serve as a hub for other regions, such as Papua, Maluku, Gorontalo, Luwuk, and Palu, to connect to various cities in the world.
The airport will continue to provide best services to the public.
