REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Anies Baswedan said every citizen has their own role and responsibility in serving the country. Commenting on Amien Rais's prevision about him to be the savior of the country, Anies asked the people not to interpret it too far.
Anies asked the people to pray for him so he could serve at his best as leader of capital city. "I think all of us in Indonesia have responsibilities to play respective roles. If someone pray for me, I will say amen," said Anies on Wednesday (April 25).
Jakarta Governor Anies Rasyid Baswedan and National Mandate Party (PAN) Honorary Council Chairman Amien Rais attend the commemoration of the first anniversary of Ustazah Peduli Negeri at Jakarta City Hall on Tuesday (April 24).
Anies said he took Amien's prediction as a mandate that came with responsibility. As he has been serving as Jakarta governor, he asserted the mandate would be carried out with full responsibility.
"Bismillah (in the name of God), I will do my best in Jakarta. Hopefully, that's the meaning (of Amien's prediction)," Anies added.
Amien made prediction that someday Anies will be savior of the country during commemoration of the first anniversary of Ustazah Peduli Negeri at Jakarta City Hall on last Tuesday (April 24). He acted like a fortune teller, as Anies came to the stage to greet him.
At the stage, Anies and Amien shook hands. However, Amien did not release Anies hand immediately. He was aware the audience were rowdy cheering the Jakarta governor.
"I'm going to make a prediction through his hand, Insya Allah (Gods will) he will be a savior of this country," said Amien while holding Anies hand.
