REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The opening ceremony of Asian Games in Jakarta on August 18 and the closing ceremony on September 2, 2018 will involve 5,500 performers, including musicians, dancers, and stylists, Indonesia Asian Games 2018 Organizing Committee (INASGOC) spokesman Francis Wanandi remarked in a press gathering here on Sunday. The preparations for the opening and closing ceremonies have been more than a year.
"We have to adapt the standards set by the Asian Olympic Council (OCA)," he said.
According to Wanandi, the opening and closing ceremonies of the Asian Games must meet the previous Olympic or Asian Games standards because it will be broadcast to 45 Asian countries and countries in other continents such as Latin America.
"We have compared the cost of organizing this opening and closing ceremonies with the opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympics and the Asian Games in other countries and we have already explained to the president," Wanandi said.
