Govt to improve logistics distribution in Central Sulawesi

Some areas hit by earthquake, tsunami in C Sulawesi have not received logistics aid.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) assessed the logistics distribution for victims of the earthquake and tsunami in Central Sulawesi have to bee improved on a number of sides. He said the team on field have not been able yet to reach a number of earthquake affected areas in some region.

“There are some sub-districts which can’t be reached through land, so I ordered our team on field to settle the problem today,” said Jokowi in a statement on Thursday (Oct 4).

After reviewing the impact of the earthquake and tsunami disaster in Palu City and Donggala District, Central Sulawesi Province, Jokowi led a limited meeting in the courtyard of Mutiara Sis Al-Jufrie Airport, Palu City. The meeting was held after the President and his entourage arrived from Donggala Regency on Wednesday (Oct 3) afternoon.

“After reviewing directly, we evaluate the progress and I see evacuation process is going well,” Jokowi said.

Jokowi said he handling and care of the injured victims who were treated in Palu City and who were flown to Makassar for more intensive treatment, have also gone well. He ordered Central Sulawesi Governor and staffs to urge people there to restart their economic activities, which had been paralyzed for a while.

“We invite people to open their shops and we guarantee the security, so the economy runs normally again,” Jokowi added.

Jokowi also interacted local government in Central Sulawesi to reactivate services for the community. He asked governor, regents, and mayors in the region to open their offices normally.
