REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, WAISAI — Tour guide member of Association of Indonesian Guides in Raja Ampat Regency, West Papua Province, Mecu Saleo found 11 carcasses of sharks floating on a raft in the waters of West Waigeo Pam Islands. Those sharks were found decayed with no skins and fins.
“My activities is in Pam Islands waters and I tell other guide friends to convey it to relevant parties,” said Mecu on Friday (Nov 23).
Mecu said he found the 11 carcasses of sharks on Thursday (Nov 22) afternoon, when he with small boat passed Pam Islands waters. Then, he saw there were two small rafts floating with no one on board.
He approached the rafts and shocked with the sight of 11 dead sharks left abandoned. Mecu immediately took a picture to make report.
“I took a picture to make report and make it viral,” Mecu added.
According to Mecu, only part of meat that left in carcasses of sharks. By the smell, he predicted that the sharks have been skinned since three days ago.
