REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Members of the Metro Jaya Regional Police confiscated 70 kilograms (kg) of shabu-shabu (crystal meth) and 49,238 ecstasy grains from interstate networks. The evidences was found during a raid at Apartments Season City, South Jakarta, on Dec 17.
"The perpetrators of international networks smuggled goods from Malaysia through Palembang and distributed them in Jakarta," Deputy Head of Metro Jaya Regional Police Brigadier General Wahyu Hadiningrat stated in Jakarta, Wednesday.
From the disclosure, the police arrested 41-year-old YH; N, aged 47; AB, 38; M, 36; US and H, both aged 28; and HG, 35, while three other suspects were fugitives identified by their initials as IJK, JH, and D aka RM. Hadiningrat said the drugs smuggled by the suspects from Malaysia to Palembang were then circulated in Jakarta in the context of the new year's celebration.
Head of Sub-directorate II of the Jakarta Police Narcotics Detective Directorate Adjunct Senior Commissioner Dony Alexander revealed that of the three vehicles, the suspects used two cars to carry drugs. The individuals stored drugs in the "sound system" section to evade detection by members of the police.
"In the car's sound system, there are two boxes, with each box capable of loading 15 to 20 kilograms," Alexander revealed.
Officers also confiscated evidence in the form of three suitcases and three bags containing 70 kg of methamphetamine and ecstasy as much as 49,238 items, a Porsche, a Pajero Sport car, a Fortuner car, a Mercedes Benz car, an Avega car unit, a Yamaha R15 motorbike, and a Honda Beat motorbike.
The suspects were found to have violated Articles 12, 114, and 115 of Law Number 35 of 2009, with maximum threat of capital punishment.
