REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesia's Minister of Tourism Arief Yahya has urged the Association of the Indonesia Tours & Travel Agencies (ASITA) to create a tourism package that traces Barack Obama's path through Indonesia.

The minister made the statement in a written release received here, Saturday, in which he called on ASITA to start selling tourism packages that promote several locations in the country that were visited by Obama during his holiday in Indonesia.

"Similar to the visit of King Salman of Saudi Arabia to Indonesia, our ministry had promoted the places he had visited in Bali to people in the Middle East. King Salman had successfully endorsed Bali and Bogor to foreign tourists from the region," he noted.

He expressed hope that Obama's visit to Bali and Jogjakarta-Solo-Semarang would also help to promote the areas to foreign visitors from Europe and the US.

"Continue the promotion of Obama's path in Indonesia, so that these spots become more well-known in the world and have new value that can make a significant impact in the tourism field," he remarked.

The visit of the 44th US president is deemed to hold a strategic value for Indonesia's tourism sector.

Minister Yahya expressed hope that Obama's visit to Indonesia would promote the country's tourism at an even wider and global scale.
